Two pediatricians and a prescription to zantac later we went to a GI doctor. We told her the same story we told every other doctor, the constant spitting up was really the only issue. He had always been in the 80-90% for growth, he loved to eat, was never seeming like his tummy was upset no gas and the spitting up didn't seem to phase him. He has been sleeping through the night since he was 2 mo. She then did a rectal exam and determined there was blood in his stool and immediately diagnosed it as a milk and soy protein allergy. We were told of this formula (double the cost of what we were using), and that it was amino acid based and should work. Well a couple cans into the formula and cutting out all other diary in his diet he is still spitting up. He also has a harder time sleeping, and by that I mean almost impossible to get him to nap and even then its maybe for 1-2 hour for the whole day; then again a fight at night and sometimes he stirs and cries in the night. My husband is having a hard time with this diagnosis. He was allergic to milk as a baby and had soy formula and was fine. I keep trying to explain to his whole family its a protein allergy; but when I'm not finding much relief its hard to keep arguing. My husband wants to try alternatives like goats milk, but my baby isn't even a year old yet, already a little anemic and I feel if we just keep switching his diet we will get no where. I'm really losing hope here and scared for my child's health. I'm already 5 mo pregnant with my second and feeling very overwhelmed. I need help!! The US gov’t runs a website promoting breast feeding. It sites journal articles, but when you look up the articles, you find that the study results were not nearly as clear-cut as the website suggests. They’re exaggerating the evidence to promote a political agenda.

I strongly support scientific inquiry into the best way to feed babies. I’m just skeptical about the data, though, b/c evidence showing some benefits to formula feeding are not well received politically. This political agenda, IMHO, is our generation’s version of “a woman’s place is at home”, this time spearheaded by women.CJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05824987036580158137noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873834293626263481.post-15324756303390844582009-08-08T15:05:06.688-05:002009-08-08T15:05:06.688-05:00I love breast milk articles. I am still breastfeeding but even though I have eliminated dairy and eggs from my diet he still has occasional bouts of inconsolable crying (a lot less, I might add since before I started the elimination diet). I am also topping up with a soy based formula the paediatrician prescribed. Can you help me with what types of foods I should eliminate from my diet? My son is almost 10 months old and I've gotten the feeling that people don't believe me when I say that I can't eat legumes (he gets some solid food each day now, but is mostly still breastfed). He, too, had a reaction to the supposedly soy and milk free rice cereals (he can eat rice, however - I make my own cereal from rice flour). I'm wondering if your child was able to eat peas and at what age. Also, what was your child's age when she had legumes herself? When your wife had them? I am so desperate for "company." I go to many play groups and no one has this experience which leaves me feeling pretty isolated. My husband keeps a blog for our son - would you mind posting a comment answering any of this on our blog? The address is "zacmeister.blogspot.com." She has a bit in there about how food intolerances can lead to leaky gut syndrome which can lead to autoimmune disorders. I am not at all informed, but isn't arthritis an autoimmune disease? Sorry if I'm wrong. But it's a great book, none the less. So much research needs to be done ... but she also explains in the book why it doesn't get done.

Also ... as an aside to others ... Susan Reimer has a great muffin cookbook which is fantastic. YOu can substitute rice milk for any milk in the recipe and she gives a vegetable oil alternative to butter in each recipe. Also ... if you have egg problems (as both my boys do) you can substitute the egg with some applesauce. They are wonderful and definitely help to fill the void in a dairy and soy free diet!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11076315760690977900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873834293626263481.post-18198817856102194732009-04-06T22:16:00.000-05:002009-04-06T22:16:00.000-05:00My daughter who is now 19 suffered with MSPI as an...My daughter who is now 19 suffered with MSPI as an infant. We have a 7 month old Who is doing wonderful! It was months before we really got things figured out between MSPI & Acid reflux, then when we continued to have problems I had to experiment with eliminating Soy Lecithin which took a while because I kept making mistakes, so many of the approved foods from the MSPI guidebook contain it (including all margerines)! Our next issue has been finding a formula she can tollerate to supplement when my production is down. Tons of spit-up with neocate, elecare, alumentum. I'm hoping this just gets better as she gets bigger. Starting real food has been great, she is happy & gaining plenty of weight!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873834293626263481.post-5210492399612313872009-02-04T22:25:00.000-05:002009-02-04T22:25:00.000-05:00You may want to check out our pro/con article on i...You may want to check out our pro/con article on incest on Debatepedia. Just scan through any of the mainstream media channels on a saturday morning to see how our children, esp. boys, are being primed for war. Television, video games... these are the insidious tools used buy the powers that be to contract the minds of our children and funnel them down the path of mediocrity. Engaging them in creative endeavors is our best line of defense against such a fate. It will expand their horizons and keep their spirits free, thereby allowing them at least the chance of fulfiling their true potential.
Thank you, Sir Robinson, for being bold enough to say so.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873834293626263481.post-78876758949276445892008-09-25T15:39:00.000-05:002008-09-25T15:39:00.000-05:00Food allergies/intolerances are becoming so common...Food allergies/intolerances are becoming so common. Perhaps the vinegar rinse, which I'm not using (lazy, hurried), is needed in each wash to avoid the thin layer of well-adhered cloudy deposit seen best on clear glassware. I tried a longer wash-time, never the dry cycle, and tried a new batch verrry carefully mixed... which did not diminish this filmy deposit. Gotta be the pH?? What makes the deposit happen? What does citric acid do to get rid of all that base? My chem classes were sooo long ago. Each bottle was filled with water, sealed and allowed to sit for 24
hours. The 24-hour tests were performed on all bottles for levels of bisphenol A leaching: first at room
temperature and then in an oven at 80°C. The 80°C treatment simulates repeated washing of the bottles
(approximately 60-100 washes) and indicates how much bisphenol A would leach from a well-used bottle"
http://toxicnation.ca/files/toxicnation/report/ToxicBabyBottleReport.pdf

So the implied leaching that would occur in practice seemingly would involve an amount of BPA equal only to 1/60 to 1/100 of the reported amount leaching into the wash water and rinse water of your dishwasher over the course of those two cycles and from there down the drain except for scattered droplets over all your dishes amounting to a very small percentage of the total volume of contaminated water. One might expect as well that the detergent in a normal wash would discourage BPA from lingering on the bottle any other surface in the dishwasher, so that virtually all the BPA detected in the experiment would be rinsed down the drain in practice. Then we're only eating it in salmon and tuna.MThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02341704109256270557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873834293626263481.post-58829061577752891732008-06-17T19:32:00.000-05:002008-06-17T19:32:00.000-05:00This seems to require registration and maybe a fee...This seems to require registration and maybe a fee, but FYI this seems to be relevant online help and commiseration for MSPI under another name

Parents of Children with FPIES
"NEW!
